Katherine A. Kinser is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is one of the top female matrimonial lawyers in Texas. While her practice initially focused on complex property division, she has since become known for her work in child custody cases involving complicated jurisdictional questions and psychological issues. She has also been recognized for her work in identifying particular matrimonial law issues that impact professional athletes and their spouses. She is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Kinser is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association and State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Sports Lawyers Association. Ms. Kinser is involved in a number of professional organizations and for several years chaired the Family Law\Practice Manual committee for the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. She is the co-Course Director of the 2007 Advanced Family Law Course. Ms. Kinser has presented numerous papers for such varied organizations as the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, the Legal Education Institute and South Texas College of Law. She is extensively published, her works appearing in numerous books and treatises. Ms. Kinser has also testified as an expert witness on the characterization of an athlete's contract and has been a consultant to many sports agents, team owners and national sports publications.
